Don't Let Green Turtles GO Extinct!
Green sea turtles are one of few animals that eat sea grass, which needs needs to be cut just like normal grass. This maintains the health of the seagrass, many other organisms are dependant on the grass bed for survival. They are developmental and breeding grounds for crustaceans and many fish. Therefore if green sea turtles went extinct there will be a great decline in seagrass, many low levels of the food and various marine species would be lost. In addition to that, since very little vegetation grows on the beaches there are very few nutrients. Therefore when the sea turtles lay their eggs, each one lays around a 100 eggs in a nest, and about 3-7 nests during the nesting season. However not every nest and eggs hatches, very few hatchlings make it to the water. This is the main source of nutrients for dune vegetation. This keeps the dune vegetation strong and healthy. All in all if green sea turtles went extinct marine and beach dune ecosystem would be negatively affected, there will be a major decline in grass beds and the dune vegetation won't be able to support the dunes, allowing beaches to wash away.
